They live in Encino, California and have two daughters, Satyana and Keeva, born in March of 2009 and Keeva which was born in on May 12, 2012. Melanie Lynskey turned down the role as she wasn't super interested in television at the time. Alyson Hannahigan, 23 was chosen for the part following seven auditions.
